Basset mix with little legs like wheels!  If you have a dog that enjoys running and playing around, Basil will have no problem fitting in. He absolutely loves chasing a tossed ball and will bring it back to you for another throw.  Afterwards he’s happy to be a couch potato and snooze away.  Basil came from an outdoor kennel with a dirt floor that he shared with his dad but he’s had no problem adjusting to cushy indoor life with an outdoor potty.  He’s very sweet, gentle, kind, and curious.  His face may look sad but his tail tells another story wagging away when he sees you!

He rides well in a car, sleeps in his crate at night, and has gotten used to a crate during portions of the day.  His bark is that of a small dog which he doesn’t use often and we haven’t heard any howling.  We’ve had to show him the good things in life and he wasn’t sure what to do with all those treats and good food at first but he quickly warmed up to the idea of a tasty treat, toys, and a soft bed.  This little boy deserves the best home with all the love.

**Note on breed and age determination: 

Breed and age are often determined on appearance, our own knowledge, veterinarian advice, and/or information from the sending shelters or previous owners.  Most of our adoptable dogs were previously stray dogs with little history, we can’t be 100% sure of a dog’s breed mix, and unless there is a specific date of birth listed, we can’t be 100% sure of a dog’s age. Additionally, our assessments of a dog's interactions with other dogs, cats, or children are based on OUR experiences. Your experience may differ.

 

ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES:

• Wellness check
• Spay/neuter (puppies adopted with required spay/neuter certificate)
• Age appropriate vaccines - rabies and distemper combo 
• Heartworm test if over 7 months of age
• Fecal test and/or deworming for parasites
• Microchip ​

~ Healing Hearts rescue will also provide dental procedures, bloodwork, surgeries, and/or any other additional vet work as needed while dogs are in our care.
