Hi I'm Oreo and I am a ridiculously affectionate pup. I put the lap in lapdog. Seriously, you sit, I'm in your lap in less than a second no matter who you are. It's kind of like my personal trick. I live for a lap and will stay there all day if you let me. I am also moderately active, playful, I like toys somewhat, and I will French kiss you with speed and without consent.

I get along great with other dogs big and small but I once had an issue with a male dog that wasn't neutered, so that could be an issue. I had just gotten neutered myself so some crazy hormonal thing could have been going on too. My foster home has 4 other dogs (2 male & 2 female) and we get along very well.

I'm a good listener who's easy to train. I know sit, shake, leave it, and am working on down. I'm also good in a crate and do well on a leash. I do tend to bark at others when I'm out and about because I mostly want to say hello. In a new house I will bark at sounds, but I settle into the sounds of a house in a couple weeks and then I'm quiet.

I do tend to resource guard high value treats though so that could be an issue with little kids. I've been playing the trading game so I'm getting better. Maybe you could continue to play it with me? I also am shameless about stealing unattended food, so in this regard, do not trust me. I'm a good jumper from all that lap leaping I do and it also works for jumping on chairs to get to tables and snatch a lovely meal you just prepared for yourself. I have also been known to steal food from a toddler's hand. I know I shouldn't be proud of that, but come on, it's a little funny, they cry so easily!

I sure would like to meet you and sit in your lap, so if you're looking for a dog to give you their unconditional love and absolute affection, please fill out an application for me because I'm 100% that dog. Oh, and I'm cute too!

**Note on breed and age determination: 

Breed and age are often determined on appearance, our own knowledge, veterinarian advice, and/or information from the sending shelters or previous owners.  Most of our adoptable dogs were previously stray dogs with little history, we can’t be 100% sure of a dog’s breed mix, and unless there is a specific date of birth listed, we can’t be 100% sure of a dog’s age. Additionally, our assessments of a dog's interactions with other dogs, cats, or children are based on OUR experiences. Your experience may differ.

 

ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES:

• Wellness check
• Spay/neuter (puppies adopted with required spay/neuter certificate)
• Age appropriate vaccines - rabies and distemper combo 
• Heartworm test if over 7 months of age
• Fecal test and/or deworming for parasites
• Microchip ​

~ Healing Hearts rescue will also provide dental procedures, bloodwork, surgeries, and/or any other additional vet work as needed while dogs are in our care.
