Leonardo, or Leo for short, has an excited bounce to his step. He is a Chihuahua who loves people and the attention they give him. He will be his human's shadow, and loves hanging out on the couch and in bed under the blankets. Leo just loves to explore, whether its in the backyard searching the perimeter of the fenced yard, or out on a walk. He is very interested in the wildlife of the neighborhood. He generally doesn't bark in the house, or when his family is close by, but will bark at passing dogs on a walk or if left outside unattended. With a stern "shush" he quiets down.

Leo came from a situation where they used potty pads in the house. Initially the first two days Leo marked in the house, and used the potty pads daily. He now knows that he should go to the bathroom outside, so there has been no marking or accidents after the first few days. The only time he uses a potty pad is when he family is gone for extended periods of time.

Leo would be great with kids, has shown no aggression. He is in a house with 4 other dogs currently and did great from the first meet. Leo spends more time exploring than paying attention to the other dogs. Leo does well on walks, but will bark at passing dogs.

Overall, Leo learned the routine of the foster home quite quickly and is always looking at his foster dad to see when and where he will sit so Leo can be by him for snuggles and attention.

**Note on breed and age determination: 

Breed and age are often determined on appearance, our own knowledge, veterinarian advice, and/or information from the sending shelters or previous owners.  Most of our adoptable dogs were previously stray dogs with little history, we can’t be 100% sure of a dog’s breed mix, and unless there is a specific date of birth listed, we can’t be 100% sure of a dog’s age. Additionally, our assessments of a dog's interactions with other dogs, cats, or children are based on OUR experiences. Your experience may differ.

ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES:

• Wellness check
• Spay/neuter (puppies adopted with required spay/neuter certificate)
• Age appropriate vaccines - rabies and distemper combo 
• Heartworm test if over 7 months of age
• Fecal test and/or deworming for parasites
• Microchip ​

~ Healing Hearts rescue will also provide dental procedures, bloodwork, surgeries, and/or any other additional vet work as needed while dogs are in our care.
