REQUIRES ANOTHER DOG AND A SECURELY FENCEC YARD

Hi there, I'm Gilbert! While I'm a bit timid at first and take a little while to warm up, don't let that fool you. Deep down I'm a spunky and playful guy! I came from a rough past and it takes me some time to to start to feel at home. While I'm adjusting, I tend to cower a bit when people come up me and I get nervous from loud noises or sudden movements. But before long, I realize that new people just want to love me and that I can be my authentic self!

Once I realize that I'm safe and cared for, I really enjoy spending time playing with other dogs. I have two foster dog sisters in my current foster home that are both over 50lbs and I LOVE to play with them. Big or small, I'm all about having doggie friends. After the play time ends, my favorite thing to do is to nap on the couch. I like to be next to or in the lap of my favorite human or snuggled up next to one of the other pups. They really help me to feel comfortable and happy!

At night time, I sleep in my crate. Sometimes I'll wake up in the night and howl but if you let me outside to potty, I usually fall right back to sleep in my crate after that. Most of the time though, I sleep right up until I know it's time to wake up and then I like to remind you that it's morning. I tend to alarm my foster parents around 6:30-7am that it's time to wake up! I also am crated during the day while my foster parents go to work. They keep an eye on me through cameras during the day and I mostly just nap the day away until they get home.

I also really like food!! I get so excited for breakfast and dinner. When I get excited, I tend to get the zoomies around the house and do a lot of jumping. I also like to voice to my humans that I'd like for them to pick up the pace on dishing up my bowl! I'm working on being calm before my food is served to me but I just am so excited when it's time to eat that it's sometimes hard to contain the excitement.

Overall, I'm a really sweet guy that has a super fun, life of the party personality once I feel comfortable. I'm a pup that will love you with my whole heart if you give me the chance! I hope you'll consider giving me a chance in your home!

**Note on breed and age determination:

Breed and age are often determined on appearance, our own knowledge, veterinarian advice, and/or information from the sending shelters or previous owners.  Most of our adoptable dogs were previously stray dogs with little history, we can’t be 100% sure of a dog’s breed mix, and unless there is a specific date of birth listed, we can’t be 100% sure of a dog’s age. Additionally, our assessments of a dog's interactions with other dogs, cats, or children are based on OUR experiences. Your experience may differ.
