Ona is incredibly sweet and affectionate. She is cautious about new situations and people, but warms up quickly and loves to cuddle on a lap, sunbathe on the sidelines of a soccer game, or stalk geese in the park. She is friendly and submissive with all animals she's met. She's only occasionally a little vocal about dogs passing on walks and was only once too playful near the cat! She leans in for pets and gives kisses to any person who approaches her calmly.

Young children or those who may struggle to go slow and give her space would likely overwhelm her. Ona's forever family will be committed to continue working to build her confidence and socialize through positive training and exposure - more youth sports games, patio dinners, neighborhood pack walks, and quiet picnics in the park for this girl!

She is crate trained and house trained on a schedule, currently going out every 3-5 hours during the day. She's making great progress on leash, securely double-leashed at all times outdoors, and should be closely supervised even within a fenced area for safety. Ona looks forward to meeting a forever family that is calm, active, and confident that will foster the same qualities in her!

**Note on breed and age determination: 

Breed and age are often determined on appearance, our own knowledge, veterinarian advice, and/or information from the sending shelters or previous owners.  Most of our adoptable dogs were previously stray dogs with little history, we can’t be 100% sure of a dog’s breed mix, and unless there is a specific date of birth listed, we can’t be 100% sure of a dog’s age. Additionally, our assessments of a dog's interactions with other dogs, cats, or children are based on OUR experiences. Your experience may differ.

ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES:

• Wellness check
• Spay/neuter (puppies adopted with required spay/neuter certificate)
• Age appropriate vaccines - rabies and distemper combo 
• Heartworm test if over 7 months of age
• Fecal test and/or deworming for parasites
• Microchip ​

~ Healing Hearts rescue will also provide dental procedures, bloodwork, surgeries, and/or any other additional vet work as needed while dogs are in our care.
