Hector and Spartacus a.k.a. Sparky are litter mates and have lived together their entire lives. Hector would be devastated if Sparky didn't come with him anywhere they go, they are what rescues like to call a "bonded pair". At the ripe old age of 14, they are quiet, not too active, live to eat, sleep, "chew" on yummies (Hector has some front teeth but Sparky has no teeth), hang with their foster brofurs and love up their foster mom. They sit to receive treats when foster dad comes home from work and are on their best behavior for him. They sleep in their own beds in our guest bedroom and will put in a solid 9 pm to 7 am night every time. Hector tends to push Sparky's buttons by trying to muscle in on his food, but Hector is otherwise a bit aloof and a little skittish. Sparky, on the other hand, loves to get pets and cuddles and will wait to be picked up. Sparky is the beauty in this relationship while Hector is the brawn!
Since we have other foster dogs that like to go for long walks, Hector and Spartacus ride in their customized running stroller that we call their canine carriage. They like to walk for a few blocks but then want to rest on their wheels and just attract attention! The carriage can come with them if their forever family would like to have it.
They are potty trained, dog-friendly, cat-friendly, kid friendly, know basic training commands but can be quite grabby when treats are around so we always present them with our hand flattened. I have been working with Hector specifically to calm down before snatching the treat, I say "gentle" and then wait for him to look me in the eyes before he gets his reward. These boys want to find a calm quiet place to enjoy their days and love their new humans!
Breed and age are often determined on appearance, our own knowledge, veterinarian advice, and/or information from the sending shelters or previous owners. Most of our adoptable dogs were previously stray dogs with little history, we can’t be 100% sure of a dog’s breed mix, and unless there is a specific date of birth listed, we can’t be 100% sure of a dog’s age. Additionally, our assessments of a dog's interactions with other dogs, cats, or children are based on OUR experiences. Your experience may differ.
