Dash was rescued from a ranch in South Dakota. He’d had very little exposure to new experiences, such as those found in the city. He had literally never been on a leash. He is very tentative about new things, though his experiences expand every day and so does his confidence. He’s extremely bright and curious, but it often gets hidden behind his insecurities about the unfamiliar. Regarding the leash, once he understood how it worked, he became the best walking dog we’ve had. He walks right at our side as if he’d been doing it all his life. Dash will the perfect companion dog for someone. He is happy as long as he can be in the room with his people. He is content to curl up in a corner and doze, but remains vigilantly aware of what’s happening. If working in the yard, he finds a comfortable spot nearby to lay down and supervise. As we say, he likes to be “involved”. While he is crate trained, though we allow him the run of the house, as he’s fully housebroken and keeps out of trouble. He also virtually never barks. In short, he’s ridiculously easy to live with. If you want a dog that will jump on you and lick your face, Dash is probably not your guy. However, if you want a dog that will quietly curl up next to you for a movie, you can count him in. Dash needs someone that can be patient and continue helping him meet a new world and continue to blossom.
