Hi I'm Newman and I'm a 3 year old Havanese boy and before you get carried away with my cuteness, please be sure I am a good fit for your home. I am a very sweet boy, like super sweet, but I come with a bite history so NO KIDS in my forever home or as regular visitors. My bite history was with my previous family. I would charge and bite strangers that came into my home and occasionally when I was out and about. I bit one of the kids in my home, but it was redirected aggression because someone was coming in the door. I would also resource guard really good treats. My previous home was a busy home with kids and a lot going on as young families tend to be like. In foster care, I have been absolutely wonderful, but I'm in a quiet home with no kids and every stranger that comes through the door has to pay a Newman toll of a treat and then I love them. Nobody knows if I'll bite again, but extreme caution has to be taken. To meet me you'd never think I could bite anyone because I like to give out kisses not bites, but in the right situation it's possible that I could revert to old behavior. So please consider this before filling out an application for me.
Otherwise, I am house trained (after day one), crate trained, leash trained, I know some basic commands and I love to snuggle. I don't need a fenced yard, but it's always a bonus. Another dog that I can get rowdy with and expend some energy through play would be really helpful, but not necessary if you can give me lots of exercise. Exercise reduces stress and that will help me. I really am a good boy and so loving, but I need an environment that will keep me that way.
