Hello! My foster mom and dad call me Sanibel. I'm a small beagle girl looking for my furever home.
I spent my entire life, almost 1 1/2 years outside in Missouri. I love being outside and will run fast and play hard, so I need a secure fence. However, I do get cold really quickly and it takes me a while to warm up if I've been outside too long.
I'm not sure about cats, but I did grow up around other dogs and love to be with others, but because I'm so tiny, I have to use my big girl growl and will play rough at times; I have to show the other dogs who's boss, after all! However, at night, I will snuggle up with the other dogs and my humans because I really am a lover at heart. Most nights, I will cuddle with my foster mom and dad and fall asleep next to them before I go to my kennel for the night. If I can get away with it, I like to sleep on my foster parent's bed with them, but I'm just as happy going to my kennel.
My foster mom says I've come a long way with potty training, as long as she remembers to let me out every couple of hours and is patient with me while I search for the perfect spot to go. It's been a few days since I've had an accident, and I've learned that if I paw at the door, my foster parents let me outside right away!
We've also been going for walks and walking on a leash is still pretty new to me. If I smell a bunny, I just want to chase after it! I'm also learning how to sit, stay, and come, especially when foster mom gives me treats when I do it right! I don't talk much, unless the other dog 'tells' me to bark. I'd rather communicate with my humans through my expressive eyebrows and long gazes. I'd love to find my perfect furever family so I can snuggle and stare into your eyes too!

Breed and age are often determined on appearance, our own knowledge, veterinarian advice, and/or information from the sending shelters or previous owners. Most of our adoptable dogs were previously stray dogs with little history, we can’t be 100% sure of a dog’s breed mix, and unless there is a specific date of birth listed, we can’t be 100% sure of a dog’s age. Additionally, our assessments of a dog's interactions with other dogs, cats, or children are based on OUR experiences. Your experience may differ.
