Rena (Ree-nah)
Reeny, Rena Beana, Reen Bean, Reen Bean Casserole
Little Rena came to Minnesota a very sad and shut down dog. In the past few weeks, we’ve seen her blossom into a peppy little pup learning how to enjoy life outside of the puppy mill.
She needs a special home with patient, gentle adults (no young kids for her) and a confident dog friend with a secure fenced in yard to continue her rehabilitation. So far she is somewhat shy with new people but will warm up to gentle pets and give little kisses in time.
In her foster home, she’s lived with two small resident dogs and two cats. Her enthusiasm for cats means she would likely do best in a home with no cats. She gets along well with the resident dogs, learning from them how to be a loved pet. They’ve taught her the joys of yak cheese chews, small toys, treats, going potty outside and (unfortunately) barking. Rena will need continued help with potty training with the help of a dog friend to lead by example and humans who can positively reinforce good behavior.
She will do well in a household accustomed to the quirks of an adult rescue dog and educated on some of the compulsive behaviors that come from being a puppy mill survivor for so long. Because she will often bark at perceived threats, she should be in a home that does not share walls with another household. Given her history, we have not used a kennel to sleep or potty train as that can be triggering for puppy mill dogs.
Rena is such a sweet, special lady with lots of years of love to give. Witnessing her quick transformation in just a few weeks has been so rewarding and we know she’ll continue to grow in just the right home. After years of having puppies, it’s her time to be some lucky family’s little baby.
Adoption Fee: $525

Breed and age are often determined on appearance, our own knowledge, veterinarian advice, and/or information from the sending shelters or previous owners. Most of our adoptable dogs were previously stray dogs with little history, we can’t be 100% sure of a dog’s breed mix, and unless there is a specific date of birth listed, we can’t be 100% sure of a dog’s age. Additionally, our assessments of a dog's interactions with other dogs, cats, or children are based on OUR experiences. Your experience may differ.
