Hi I'm Ira and I'm clearly adorable. I'm a very nice boy, but I'm a bit bashful with people. I wouldn't say I'm really scared, but definitely bashful. A world with nice people and living in a home is all new to me, so I'm sure I'll figure everything out soon enough. I'm pretty much crate trained. I mean if I know you're home sometimes I'll bark a bit and whine a little, but if you tell me to stop, I do. A crate is my safe space though and will retreat to one for a nap or if I'm feeling anxious. I'm not going to say I'm potty trained because I don't even know what that really means, but I have no urge to go potty anywhere but outside. My foster mom thinks that's both impressive and odd because when she first got me I wasn't even fixed and I spent my life breeding not living in a house. She expected me to mark all over, but no way, I'm a gentleman. I've never gone potty in her house, I just don't do it. I guess you do have to let me out every few hours or so like she does, and that works for me!
I'm also a lady's man. I mean come on, I've been a breeding stud my whole adult life. I LOVE the ladies! I'm happy just snuggling up to a lady dog and taking a nap with her. If my name wasn't Ira, it might be Cassanova! And, I mean, look at me, chick magnet right here! I don't get along with male dogs like I do females and I can occasionally get into little tiffs with male dogs because frankly, they are competition for the ladies! If you're looking for a cute dude to hang out with and you've got another dog that's looking for a friend, in particular if you've got a lady dog, I'm your guy! I do need a fenced yard because I am still a flight risk as I harbor some anxiety in this big new world I just came into. Also, I don't understand nor care for leashes, not yet anyway. Please fill out an application for me if you'd like to meet up, I swear I'm a fun guy, or at least I'm going to be!
Breed and age are often determined on appearance, our own knowledge, veterinarian advice, and/or information from the sending shelters or previous owners. Most of our adoptable dogs were previously stray dogs with little history, we can’t be 100% sure of a dog’s breed mix, and unless there is a specific date of birth listed, we can’t be 100% sure of a dog’s age. Additionally, our assessments of a dog's interactions with other dogs, cats, or children are based on OUR experiences. Your experience may differ.
