Hi there! Are you looking to teach a dog how to love and be loved? I am new to rescue but I came to Minnesota to begin a new life away for hunters who dumped me in the woods. Lucky me, I found an interesting foster home. This is where I am free to learn all the ropes about how to be a pet; to accept love and petting instead of any harsh words or actions. I still cower when my foster dad tries to pet me but I'm getting much better! We had a few dog friends stay with us for a while which was fun once we got acquainted. Although I cried when they had to go home, I'm kind of enjoying the one on one attention. For now, I hang out in my kennel which is in the living room. This way, I'm safe but still close to my people. At first, I didn't like being put in the kennel when my foster parents needed to leave so I acted up. But, as soon as I was told to "stop", I did, and then settled down for a nice nap. So far, I've learned just a few commands like off, let's go, go ahead and outside. I go in and out the doggy door with no problem! I am potty trained on a schedule. After a few days, I learned there's no way to escape out of this backyard so now I just have fun sniffing around. Yes, at first I was pretty scared and wanted to escape. So glad that didn't happen! Being a hound, I think I'll always look for the opportunity to explore life outside any walls so I'll do best in a home with a secured fence or someone who will be willing to walked me a couple of times a day for me to get my mental stimulation.
