Meet little Lainey Lou, a pup with a big personality that comes in a tiny package! This 22 pound beagle is full of love and is so very excited to show you. Her tail is almost always wagging 1000 times a minute!
Along with tail wagging, her strengths include cuddling up with you on the sofa, receiving endless belly rubs, hypnotizing you with her big amber eyes, afternoon snoozes, sunbathing on the deck, sleeping in her crate, playing and wrestling with the resident beagles, and begging for treats.
There are some things she’s still working on as well. Potty training is one of them. She does well if she’s let out every few hours. Just make sure she actually goes. She does keep her crate tidy overnight and during the day when I’m out for a few hours. I do work from home so she is not left alone for long periods.
Lainey is a bit jumpy, startles easily. She may let out a big screech if she’s accidentally bumped or something is dropped near her, like when your glasses fall off your head. The noise she makes is jolting! But she’s fine and just needs some reassurance that everything is okay and that she is safe. We don’t know exactly what life was like for her before she was rescued, but she’s going to get more and more relaxed and trusting over time. She’s already made tons of progress in the short time she’s been here. Also, despite this occasional jumpiness, she’s never growled or nipped at anyone.
Leash walking is going pretty well too but she does pull some. After all, she is a beagle and that nose wants to explore all the smells! One other thing to note is that Lainey comes with the inherent beagle voice. She hasn’t used it much so far but will at times bark and bay at people and animals outside of the house. Her singing may become more prevalent as she grows more comfy in her new home.
Lainey has not been kid or cat tested. Gauging from her demeanor she would likely be fine with cats and older children. However, I think a relatively calm household would suit her better than a boisterous one.
If you are ready to wake up every morning to a little bundle of love staring at you longingly, jumping up and down with glee, and a tail wagging so fast it might fall off, take Lainey home with you! Every day will be the best day from now on!
