Greta May is a  bundle of love and courage in a 12 pound Chihuahua body. She is approximately 8 years old and entered Rescue after her owner died and family could not take her. She was described as blind.
We discovered she could see light and shadow though her left eye was cloudy. We also discovered she had been loved at some point: she loves being as close to her human as possible.

A week after arriving, her good eye became swollen; the vet determined both eyes needed to be removed due to painful glaucoma. Though she is still adjusting, her other senses are very acute and she finds her way well.
Three weeks later, at her dental appointment,  many diseased teeth were removed. She still LOVES to eat and is much healthier now!

Greta May,  in true Chihuahua fashion, prefers to choose her person. She will become that person's one true love, lavishing kisses and requesting lap sitting, belly rubs and occasionally being carried like a baby.

She is potty trained but will piddle with great excitement. She is learning leash walking and doing well.  She is not fond of crates but did well in"puppy playpen".
She is okay with both dogs and cats though may growl when crowded. Easily redirected.

Greta May would do best in a one or two person, calm household. Preferably without stairs as she needs to be carried both up and down.

For someone looking for a gutsy, affectionate dog who loves to be with them, Greta May is perfect.

**Note on breed and age determination:

Breed and age are often determined on appearance, our own knowledge, veterinarian advice, and/or information from the sending shelters or previous owners.  Most of our adoptable dogs were previously stray dogs with little history, we can’t be 100% sure of a dog’s breed mix, and unless there is a specific date of birth listed, we can’t be 100% sure of a dog’s age. Additionally, our assessments of a dog's interactions with other dogs, cats, or children are based on OUR experiences. Your experience may differ.
