Hi there, I'm Nalda. I am a beautiful Havenese that is about 5-7 years old. I recently moved to a new home and I'm learning all about the new rules here. Foster mom tells me I'm a "retired breeding dog" - I'm not sure what that means exactly but she says that instead of having puppies, I can focus on being one myself! I'm really excited about that!

I haven't met many new people in my lifetime, so new people make me nervous. I often choose "flight" when approached by strangers and I'll run away. Foster mom has been working on it with me and, for her, I know that when she says, "ready?" she's going to touch me and I usually stop moving so she can pick me up. She goes slow with me, moving at my pace, and I really appreciate that. I also live with a small human that's 8 and, while she's really good with me and tries to give me my space, she's just so fast and loud in general and it scares me. I think I'd really prefer to live in a home with no small humans, or ones that are older than her.

Now, on to my favorite things! I LOVE food! When I first came to my foster home I didn't want to eat much. Partly because I was nervous, but mostly because I was hiding some icky teeth in my mouth. I recently had a dental and I am pleased to say that I feel so much better with my icky teeth gone - even though I have no teeth left! I like canned food or kibble soaked in water, and I eat both without any issue. Foster mom also gives me small pieces of freeze dried beef liver as treats, and those are my favorite. I now love food so much that foster mom had to put me on a diet. Whoops!

I also love to follow my foster siblings around! There are all sorts of dogs here that are different sizes and have different personalities and I get along with all of them. I love to wag my tail and look at foster mom to let her know how happy I am with them. I rely on other dog's companionship and need a canine friend in my forever home.

I am also learning from my canine friends that I should use the bathroom outside. Apparently, even though it's way warmer and nicer inside, I'm not supposed to go inside. Foster mom will put me outside, point, and tell me, "go potty" and I will happily trot off and use the bathroom. I am getting closer to always using the bathroom outside, but I'm still learning and have accidents from time to time.

I have met cats and don't mind them. One booped my nose once when I was sniffing him, so I give him a wide berth now. The other kitty I ignore.

I am so sweet and loving and I am ready to blossom in the right forever home. Can I come home with you?

**Note on breed and age determination:

Breed and age are often determined on appearance, our own knowledge, veterinarian advice, and/or information from the sending shelters or previous owners.  Most of our adoptable dogs were previously stray dogs with little history, we can’t be 100% sure of a dog’s breed mix, and unless there is a specific date of birth listed, we can’t be 100% sure of a dog’s age. Additionally, our assessments of a dog's interactions with other dogs, cats, or children are based on OUR experiences. Your experience may differ.
