Baxter is one cute pup, approximately 8 months old, who’s dream would be to always have a warm lap to snuggle in. He loves his people and will exuberantly greet you whenever you come home or walk in the room. Baxter also loves to play with other pups and does great in his foster home with a larger dog. Before getting fixed he had a reputation for being an over-eager humper, but that seems to be much less of an issue now.
Baxter loves wagging, wiggling, bouncing, snuggles, ear rubs, chew toys and bones, food or any kind, and giving kisses. We think Baxter is part dachshund and terrier and definitely has a hound nose and a prey drive.
Baxter is just starting to learn basic commands and leash walking, but he is very food motivated and eager to please so it shouldn’t take too long for him to catch on. Baxter currently sleeps in his crate at night and when home alone. He doesn’t love his crate, but once you put him in it he often goes right to sleep or will whine for only a couple minutes before quieting down. Baxter is potty-trained (though he is still a puppy and can have the occasional slip-up).
Baxter can be a little protective towards strangers and growl or bark, but he can be won over with a little patience. Once he knows you, he will immediately roll over for a belly rub.
Breed and age are often determined on appearance, our own knowledge, veterinarian advice, and/or information from the sending shelters or previous owners. Most of our adoptable dogs were previously stray dogs with little history, we can’t be 100% sure of a dog’s breed mix, and unless there is a specific date of birth listed, we can’t be 100% sure of a dog’s age. Additionally, our assessments of a dog's interactions with other dogs, cats, or children are based on OUR experiences. Your experience may differ.
