Hi, I’m Kaya! I spent most of my life as a stray in Missouri before coming up to Minnesota with my brother. I’m already adjusting to my life in a home and LOVE spending time with people.
I’d do best with a family that is very active. I love going in the car, walks, jogging, and swimming in the lakes. I think I could make a great hiking buddy. I’m really great at walking on a leash and want to say hi to all the people that I see. I do love my foster siblings, but I need to meet new dogs slowly. I get a little overwhelmed if new dogs try to play with me right away or many try to say hi at once, but once I feel comfortable, I love playing with dogs of all sizes.
I’m very smart, and I’m picking up lots of new tricks! My foster family has already taught me how to sit, stay, come, touch (I boop my nose against their hand), and shake! I'm also potty trained. I try to let my people know I need to go outside by going to the door, or sometimes I even bring my leash to them.
I’m a big chewer and love my Kong toy, but sometimes I find sneakers to play with instead. I'm starting to learn when to "drop" something that isn't mine to chew and to replace it with one of my favorite toys instead. When I’m feeling playful, I can get a little mouthy, but my foster family is showing me that kisses are more appreciated!
The one thing I really don't like is the crate. I think I might be able to get used to it, but right now it's a bit too scary for me. I like to snuggle with my people on the couch, but at night, I prefer to sleep on the floor on some blankets or a dog bed!
