Hi! I’m Oliva, a.k.a. “Luv-ya.” Growing up on a reservation is hard. Like all homeless dogs, I had to find
my own food. I rummaged through trash and perfected my hunting skills to eat. After I was found, I had
SEVEN babies. Can you imagine?? They kept wanting to feed off me. Every day they’re like, “Mom, we’re
hungry!” Kids are so needy! Holy cow. Who knew that would happen? Now that that’s over, I can
FINALLY be on my own!
I don’t quite get the whole “cuddling” thing. It’s not that I don’t enjoy getting loves. I don’t know how to
do it. You see, if you are on the couch, I will gladly get my front half on your lap, but I don’t quite get
what I’m supposed to do then. Do I put my back half up there too? Really? Weird! Who does that?
I have a 9-year-old foster human brother. I don’t pay a lot of attention to him, but he seems nice. I used
to jump at him, but quickly stopped. He might be the first human child I’ve met, so a slow intro to your
own kids may be best.
While on walks, I’m learning not to pull ahead, but watch out for those squirrels! I also like getting
tangled in my leash and biting it. I would love an adopter who could teach me how to walk nicely on a leash. Be aware of other dogs around us, as I have trouble trusting them. Being an only dog may be best. A fenced yard would be good, but not necessary.
I LOVE treats. Lots and lots and lots and lots of treats! I’m pretty good with “Sit, stay, come and down.”
I’m also learning “shake” and “other.” That’s when my foster dad has me “shake” with one paw, then
“other” with the other paw. It’s kind of weird, and I’m not sure what to think of it yet, but I get treats, so
that’s cool. I also know “kennel,” staying there while you run errands or overnight. Don’t be gone too
long, though! I miss my people!
When playing, I may use my teeth, but my foster dad has been helping me understand that’s not a good
thing. Will you be my furever family?
