Hello there, I'm Chance. I was found in a bad area in The South, heartworm positive and with a gunshot wound in my leg. The nice vet got me all healed up, and now I'm ready to learn about the good life in Minnesota!
I have already learned a lot in my foster home because I’m a smart boy! I am crate trained and will happily go in my kennel if you tell me “go in your kennel”. I LOVE other dogs of all sizes, and I will need a dog my size in my forever home to help me continue to gain confidence. I am also potty trained!
I am a very excitable boy at only 3 and I will dance, and jump, and talk to you when you talk nice to me. I get a little *too* excited sometimes and get mouthy, but Foster Mom is working with me on using the correct outlets for my excitement. I have learned “get your Wuby” which means I’m getting too mouthy and need to go find a soft toy to chew on. I will go get a toy and then come show Foster Mom and wag my whole body because I know I did exactly what she asked! I just love to make her happy.
When it comes to people, I love the ones that I know. I am nervous in new situations and around new people until I know them. Once I know you, I will love you forever! I haven’t had much experience with young children, but the experience I’ve had has been good so far. Given my slight nervousness and aptitude for mouthing when excited, I would do best in a home with kids over 10.
I am, ultimately, a happy boy that was dealt a bad hand in life. When I got to Minnesota, foster mom noticed I drank A LOT of water. After lots of tests (that I was an amazing boy for), they found out that I have Congenital Kidney Dysplasia. Apparently, that’s a fancy way of saying I was born with kidneys that are just a little too small. I have been doing very well with proper management of my condition and you’d never even know about my condition if I didn’t tell you. I don’t let anything stop me from living my life to the fullest!
I am ready to have my own forever family! Can I be confident it will be with you?
*Chance is responding well to treatment and his veterinarian is optimistic that he can live for many more years, but due to the nature of Chance’s Chronic Kidney Disease his long-term life expectancy is still uncertain.*
Breed and age are often determined on appearance, our own knowledge, veterinarian advice, and/or information from the sending shelters or previous owners. Most of our adoptable dogs were previously stray dogs with little history, we can’t be 100% sure of a dog’s breed mix, and unless there is a specific date of birth listed, we can’t be 100% sure of a dog’s age. Additionally, our assessments of a dog's interactions with other dogs, cats, or children are based on OUR experiences. Your experience may differ.
